somacycle is on a mission to build a more sustainable community

by reducing the amount of waste we throw away.

We are focused on items that aren’t readily recycled – things that our town recycling programs don’t take, and that we all feel guilty throwing in the trash because we know there must be a better way to handle them. We recognize how hard it can be to know what can and can’t be recycled, and we believe that most households have the inclination to recycle more waste, but just don’t have the time to figure out where it all goes. somacycle offers a solution. We do the work for you, targeting difficult-to-recycle items and partnering with specific businesses who will recycle or reuse the material directly. You set the items aside, and twice a month, we pick them up, sort them, and get them where they need to go. Together, we make a small contribution to a cleaner planet. Come be a somacycler!

Our Goals

Recycle

We will help reduce our local waste stream by recycling items that our township recycling programs do not include. Our recycling partners are prepared to receive a wide range of things that currently end up in the landfill.

 

Partner

We will work with business partners who will give our waste a new purpose by recycling or reusing it in their products. Companies such as ReCORK, a shoe company that uses recycled wine corks to create the soles of their shoes, will help give our waste a new life.

 

Redistribute

We will provide a community redistribution hub for certain used goods by forming connections with local organizations and groups to maximize reuse of collected items. A local art program wants egg cartons and paper towel rolls? We provide them!

 

Educate

We will help educate our clients and community about sustainable recycling practices, and advocate for ways that we can be better stewards of our environment, both locally and globally.
